The Knights of Columbus was formed by Father Michael J. McGivney in New Haven, Connecticut on March 29, 1882. Officially chartered as a fraternal benefit society to render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needy members and their families. Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief and public relief works. The Order is still true to its founding principles of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism.

From these beginnings, The Knights has grown from several members in one council to more than 13,000 councils and 1.7 million members worldwide. In the past decade, the Knights of Columbus has donated nearly $1.25 billion to charity, and provided in excess of 593 million hours of volunteer service in support of charitable causes.

Father J.E. Regan Council is a community based council established in 1954, with over 400 members. We are active in the Walden Region, through many Community Programs, Events and Charitable Donations.
